About

I'm Sylvia. I play, study and teach the piano.

Since 2010 I've taught children, adults and students over 60, online and at my studio in Nova Lima, Brazil. I believe music is learned: with a good path, a little practice every day and someone to show you how it works.

How I teach

Three things that guide my lessons

Ear before fingers

Before playing, we listen to and understand the music. When you hear it from the inside, you know where your hands are going.

A little, every day

Short, frequent sessions pay off more than one long block now and then. The plan fits your routine.

Theory that complements practice

Theory goes hand in hand with what you play, so you understand what you're doing.

Shall we play together?
